THE CLUB

Monkey Padel is a small three-court club in Sayan, Ubud, with roofed outdoor courts, coaching, equipment rental, a small pro shop and a bar and viewing area overlooking the courts.

It's also one of the more affordable options BPS has played in Bali. Court hire is IDR 360K per hour, with additional lunch-time rates, group coaching and a monthly membership option available.

BPS played here in January 2026. While the pricing is attractive and the open-sided setup provides plenty of airflow, the club felt dated compared with many of Bali's newer padel centres.

COURTS & PLAY

Monkey Padel has three roofed outdoor courts with high clearance and plenty of space around the playing area. The open-sided design was a positive during the BPS visit, with a refreshing breeze moving through the courts while we played.

The condition of the court BPS played on was the bigger issue. It felt dated and there were noticeable dead spots that affected the consistency of the bounce.

BPS played a friendly social game rather than joining an organised open match. There were some games listed through Playtomic, but considerably fewer options than BPS has found at many of the busier clubs around Bali.

For a casual game where keeping the cost down is the priority, Monkey still provides a straightforward place to get on court. Players putting court quality and a busy playing community first may find the experience more limited.

COACHING

Monkey Padel has a broad coaching program covering beginners, intermediate players, improvers, kids, families and private lessons.

Group sessions start from IDR 175K per player for 60 minutes. Private coaching starts from IDR 500K for 60 minutes, while sessions with Head Coach Tuari start from IDR 600K.

There are also options for two, three and four-player coaching, lesson packages, kids classes and family padel training. A hitting partner can be booked from IDR 320K for 60 minutes, including the hitting partner, racket and balls.

FOOD & DRINK

There's a small bar and seating area overlooking the courts, with drinks available while you play or watch a game.

BPS didn't eat or order drinks during the January 2026 visit, so there's no first-hand food review here. The viewing area itself felt fairly dated, but it does provide somewhere to sit and watch the courts.

WHAT'S HAPPENING

Open matches can be found through Playtomic alongside coaching and regular court bookings.

During the BPS visit, however, the club was extremely quiet. Other than the BPS social game, the courts were empty and there wasn't an organised event or other match taking place.

There were a few games available through Playtomic around the period of the visit, but not the volume of open matches you'll find at Bali's busiest playing hubs.

THE VERDICT

Monkey Padel is an affordable place to get on court in Ubud, but the club felt dated and in need of some attention when BPS played here.

There were things BPS liked about the setup. The high roofs, open sides and ample spacing around the courts made the playing area feel open, and the breeze coming through during the game was genuinely refreshing. The relatively low court price is another obvious advantage.

Court quality was the biggest issue. The court BPS played on felt worn and had noticeable dead spots, which affected the consistency of the bounce and ultimately the playing experience.

It was also extremely quiet during the January 2026 visit. Other than the BPS game, the courts were empty, there was one staff member around and very little atmosphere. There were some games listed on Playtomic, but options were relatively limited.

Monkey can still make sense for players looking for a cheap, casual social game in Ubud where facilities and court condition aren't the priority. Based on the BPS visit, though, it isn't a club BPS would deliberately return to purely for the playing experience.

BPS TIP Come here for the price. Monkey is one of the more affordable ways to get a casual game in Ubud, particularly if you already have four players and don't need the facilities of a larger club.
