PLAY BY ULUWATU ESTATE
A boutique padel escape near Nyang Nyang Beach. Two covered courts, warm hospitality, a relaxed social scene and even the occasional monkey watching from the fence.

I first visited Play by Uluwatu when it opened in early 2026, so I was keen to come back. Tucked away from the bustle of central Uluwatu, it has that quintessential Bali feel: two padel courts, a green space to relax in and three studio apartments above the courts.
What makes this place special is the people. The staff are genuine padel enthusiasts who go out of their way to make the experience welcoming. It feels personal rather than corporate, and the quieter setting makes it easy to forget how close you are to Uluwatu’s busier streets.

The two covered outdoor courts sit at the heart of the club. Play by Uluwatu says they were built to official Padel Galis specifications, with components manufactured in Valencia — a clear sign of the club’s focus on playing quality.
The setting is part of the experience. During my visit, monkeys were perched on top of the fences watching the padel. It’s one of those moments you don’t get at your average sports centre. Court hire is 400k for 60 minutes, with rackets available for 50k and balls available to purchase.

Play by Uluwatu is about the courts and the atmosphere rather than an extensive wellness setup. The showers and changing rooms were clean, with lockers and a pro shop available. There’s also filtered water, parking and Wi-Fi.
For anyone wanting to stay longer, three studio apartments sit above the courts and can be booked separately through Airbnb.
Mesa at Play has indoor seating and a lovely outdoor grass area overlooking the courts. It’s the sort of place where you can linger over a drink while another match unfolds nearby.
The menu includes breakfast options such as smoked salmon bagels and shakshuka omelettes, along with sandwiches, burgers and other lunch choices. The café adds a lot to the club’s laid-back, social feel.

The atmosphere was fantastic when I visited. A few groups were relaxing on the grass with drinks and chatting while padel continued in the background. There was also a coaching session happening, and the staff were welcoming throughout.
The combination of greenery, boutique accommodation, people hanging around after their games and monkeys wandering nearby gives Play by Uluwatu a character of its own.

Group coaching is offered from 200k per person for a group of five, with private coaching available too. I saw a coaching session during my visit, and it fits naturally with the club’s friendly approach.
There are frequent ladies’ Americano sessions and fixed-partner tournaments, giving regulars and visitors a chance to meet other players. Book courts through Playtomic or contact the team directly on WhatsApp.
A boutique padel experience with a personality all its own.
For me, the best part of Play by Uluwatu is the feeling you get being there. It’s close to Nyang Nyang but feels tucked away from the busy parts of Uluwatu. The staff genuinely love padel, the courts are a pleasure to play on, and the grass area is made for staying on after your game.
Add in a welcoming crowd, Mesa café, three studios above the courts and monkeys occasionally watching from the fence, and it’s a memorable little Bali padel escape.
