CANGGU
Bali's busiest mix of padel, cafés, restaurants, nightlife and beach culture. Canggu has one of the island's strongest padel scenes — but choosing the right part of Canggu can make a huge difference to your stay.
Plenty of clubs, games, coaching, socials and competition.
Easy to build a Bali trip around padel, food and nightlife.
Stay close to what you'll use most — Canggu traffic can change the equation.
International, energetic and packed with places to eat, drink and play.
WHY
CANGGU?
If padel is going to be a major part of a Bali trip, Canggu is one of the easiest places to make it happen.
The choice is the attraction. There are clubs for different levels and styles of play, a large international playing community and plenty happening once the racket goes away. Breakfast, gym, padel, pool, dinner and drinks can all fit comfortably into the same day.
The catch is that “Canggu” is not really one neighbourhood. Berawa, Batu Bolong, Echo Beach, Pererenan and Seseh can feel very different, and a short distance on the map can become a much longer trip at the wrong time of day. In Canggu, where you stay matters.
WHERE TO
BASE YOURSELF.
Canggu stretches across several distinct pockets. Decide whether you want to be closest to the action, the beach, your padel club or somewhere slightly quieter.
BERAWA
Busy and convenient, with a huge choice of restaurants, cafés, gyms and nightlife. A strong option if you want plenty happening around you.
BATU BOLONG
The heart of the Canggu action. Restaurants, bars, shops and the beach are all close, making it a good base if you want to be in the middle of things.
PERERENAN
Still close to Canggu's main attractions but with a slightly more relaxed feel. Increasingly popular for restaurants, cafés and longer stays.
SESEH
Further from the centre of the action and generally quieter. Worth considering if you want access to Canggu without necessarily living in the middle of it.
PLAYING
CANGGU.
Few parts of Bali make it easier to put padel at the centre of the trip.
The area has developed a large international padel community, with clubs offering everything from casual court hire and coaching to social games, open matches and tournaments.
That amount of choice is Canggu's biggest advantage — and also why BPS doesn't treat every club as interchangeable. Facilities, level of play, atmosphere and the overall experience can vary considerably. The closest court is not always the right court.
WHERE
TO PLAY.
BPS is working through Canggu's clubs first-hand — playing, visiting and building practical guides covering courts, facilities, prices, coaching, booking and where each venue fits into the local scene.
BALI PADEL
ACADEMY.
One of the Canggu clubs already played by BPS. The club combines seven roofed panoramic courts with coaching, regular competition and a strong academy focus.
Bali Padel Academy is one BPS has already experienced first-hand. More Canggu clubs will be added to the played list as BPS works through the area.
STAY.
EAT. DRINK. DO.
Canggu's appeal isn't just the amount of padel. Few areas of Bali give you this much choice once you've put the racket away.
STAY
From villas and boutique hotels to longer-stay accommodation, choosing the right part of Canggu is more important than simply choosing “Canggu”.
EAT
One of Bali's deepest dining scenes, from quick post-padel breakfasts to restaurants worth building an evening around.
DRINK
Beach clubs, sunset drinks, cocktail bars and late nights — Canggu has plenty of options once the games finish.
DO
Surf, beaches, gyms, wellness and shopping make it very easy to fill the rest of the day between matches.
GOOD
TO KNOW.
Check exactly where your accommodation is. Being on the wrong side of Canggu for your plans can mean spending more time travelling than expected.
A club may look close on the map but take considerably longer to reach at busy times. Check travel time rather than kilometres.
Don't automatically book the first club you find. Facilities, atmosphere, level of play and the overall experience can vary significantly between venues.
WHO IS
CANGGU FOR?
Canggu is for travellers who want padel right in the middle of the Bali experience.
This is where BPS looks for maximum choice: different clubs, restaurants, cafés, gyms, bars and something happening from early morning until late.
It isn't the part of Bali to choose for empty roads or a genuinely slow pace. But when the priority is variety, a large playing community and the ability to build an entire day around padel, Canggu is hard to ignore.
