BPS DESTINATION GUIDE

UBUD

UBUD · GIANYAR · ABIANSEMAL

Jungle, rice fields, wellness and one of Bali's most distinctive cultural destinations — with padel now becoming part of the experience. Ubud offers a very different way to combine time on court with a Bali stay.

PADEL SCENE EMERGING

A smaller scene than the coast, but one that continues to develop.

BEST FOR WELLNESS + CULTURE

Combine padel with nature, food, wellness and a slower Bali experience.

GETTING AROUND PLAN YOUR BASE

Ubud stretches well beyond the town centre, so location matters.

THE VIBE RELAXED + CREATIVE

Wellness, culture, cafés, nature and a completely different pace.

WHY
UBUD?

Ubud is for the traveller who wants to play padel without making padel the entire reason for choosing where to stay.

This is a very different Bali experience from Canggu, Seminyak or Uluwatu. There are no beach clubs or surf breaks here. Instead, Ubud is surrounded by jungle, rice fields, temples and villages, with a huge wellness, food and creative scene.

The padel scene is smaller, but that's part of the appeal. You can get on court and still have an experience that feels distinctly Ubud once the game finishes.

WHERE TO
BASE YOURSELF.

Ubud is much bigger than its town centre. Staying among the restaurants and shops is a very different experience from waking up among rice fields or jungle a few kilometres away.

01

UBUD

DINING · CULTURE · CONVENIENCE

02

GIANYAR

LOCAL · SPACE · EAST

Extending east of Ubud into a more local side of the region. Useful for clubs and stays outside the centre, with more space and access toward greater Gianyar.

03

ABIANSEMAL

GREEN · QUIET · SOUTH

South-west of Ubud, where the setting becomes greener and more spread out. A useful part of the wider Ubud padel area for travellers based beyond the town centre.

03 THE PADEL SCENE

PLAYING
UBUD.

Ubud isn't trying to compete with Canggu for the number of courts — and it doesn't need to.

Padel here fits into a broader Ubud lifestyle built around wellness, fitness, food and community. The scene is still developing, making it one of the interesting areas to watch as padel continues to expand across Bali.

For visitors, the appeal is simple: you can still get your games in without giving up the experience that brought you to Ubud in the first place.

BPS CLUB GUIDE

FIND YOUR
UBUD CLUB.

Ubud has fewer choices than Bali's coastal padel hubs, making location, facilities and the overall club experience particularly useful when deciding where to play.

STAY.
EAT. DRINK. DO.

In Ubud, what happens away from the court is arguably the main event. This is a destination worth exploring properly.

GOOD
TO KNOW.

LOCATION CHECK WHAT “UBUD” MEANS.

Accommodation described as Ubud can be well outside the centre. That's not necessarily a bad thing — but check the location against the places you actually want to visit.

GETTING AROUND DON'T JUDGE BY DISTANCE.

Roads around Ubud can be busy and journeys can take longer than expected. Check actual travel times when choosing your club and accommodation.

PADEL PLAN YOUR GAMES.

With fewer clubs than Canggu, it makes sense to check availability and booking methods rather than assuming you'll always find a last-minute court.

BPS VERDICT

WHO IS
UBUD FOR?

Choose Ubud when you want your Bali experience to be bigger than the padel.

It's a strong option for travellers who want to play while also prioritising food, wellness, culture, nature and a slower pace than Bali's main coastal hubs.

If your goal is to play multiple games every day with the widest possible choice of clubs, Canggu may make more sense. If you want a memorable destination where you can also get on court, Ubud offers something completely different.
