LOMBOK
Surf beaches, dramatic coastline and a growing tourism scene just across the water from Bali. Lombok brings padel into a completely different island experience — with Kuta and the south emerging as the natural starting point.
A young padel scene with plenty of room to grow.
For travellers who want courts mixed with beaches, surf and exploring.
Reach Lombok directly or combine it with a wider Bali trip.
Less developed than Bali's major hubs, with plenty of space to explore.
WHY
LOMBOK?
If you're already travelling to Bali for padel, Lombok is exactly the kind of side trip worth knowing about.
The island offers a very different experience from Bali. South Lombok combines surf beaches, open landscapes, cafés, villas and a tourism scene that's growing without yet feeling like Canggu or Uluwatu.
And now padel is becoming part of that story. You won't find the sheer choice of courts available in Bali, but that's not really why you come. Lombok is about being able to play while exploring somewhere completely different.
WHERE TO
BASE YOURSELF.
Lombok is a large island, so location matters much more than it does within one Bali neighbourhood. For a padel-focused trip, the south is the obvious place to start.
KUTA
LOMBOK
The main BPS base in Lombok. Kuta combines accommodation, restaurants, cafés, surf culture and access to the beaches spread across the south coast.
MANDALIKA
The wider Mandalika area surrounds Kuta and continues to develop as one of Lombok's major tourism zones. Expect resorts, new infrastructure and plenty more change ahead.
SOUTH
LOMBOK
Head beyond Kuta and the south coast opens into a collection of beaches, surf breaks and smaller communities. Transport becomes important, but that's part of the appeal.
SENGGIGI
A completely different Lombok base on the west coast. Senggigi works better for travellers combining Lombok with the Gili Islands than those building the trip primarily around south-coast padel.
KUTA.
NOT THAT KUTA.
Kuta Lombok and Kuta Bali are two completely different destinations.
When BPS refers to Kuta on the Lombok guide, we're talking about Kuta on Lombok's south coast — the surf town at the centre of the Mandalika region.
Our Bali directory continues to list Kuta Bali separately.
PLAYING
LOMBOK.
Lombok is still at the beginning of its padel story — which makes it one of the more interesting destinations to watch.
The south is the natural focus, particularly around Kuta and Mandalika, where tourism, accommodation and sporting infrastructure continue to develop.
BPS will track new courts, clubs and openings as they appear, giving players a reason to check back before their next trip.
WHERE
TO PLAY.
Explore Lombok's current and upcoming padel clubs, with courts, prices, facilities, coaching, booking information and BPS updates.
FIND YOUR
LOMBOK CLUB.
With a smaller and rapidly developing scene, current information matters. Check club status and booking details before you travel.
STAY.
EAT. DRINK. DO.
Lombok is exactly where the BPS destination model makes sense. Find your court — then build a much bigger trip around it.
STAY
Kuta offers everything from hostels and small hotels to villas and increasingly polished resorts, with more development continuing across Mandalika.
EAT
Kuta has developed a strong café and restaurant scene alongside local Indonesian options — plenty to explore between games.
DRINK
Bars and casual nightlife exist around Kuta, but the scene is smaller and more laid-back than Bali's major nightlife areas.
DO
Surfing, beaches, waterfalls, diving, road trips and island hopping mean the biggest problem might be finding enough time to actually play padel.
GOOD
TO KNOW.
Don't treat Lombok like one Bali neighbourhood. Choose your accommodation based on the part of the island you actually intend to explore.
Having reliable transport becomes particularly useful once you leave Kuta and start exploring beaches and other parts of the island.
Lombok's padel scene is developing quickly. Confirm club opening status, court availability and booking arrangements before building them into your trip.
WHO IS
LOMBOK FOR?
For players who see padel as part of the trip — not the entire trip.
Lombok makes sense if you want beaches, surfing, exploring and a different island experience while still being able to get on court.
If you want dozens of clubs and endless open matches, Bali remains the stronger base. If you want to throw your racket in the bag and see somewhere new, Lombok becomes much more interesting.
